
A fateful encounter at a Cobb County apartment complex late Tuesday night left one man dead and a woman wounded, as gunshots pierced the quietude of Gables Mill Apartments. The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old William Brown, police said. Responding to reports of gunfire just before midnight, Cobb County officers found two individuals shot at 100 Akers Ridge Dr. SE, 11Alive reported.
The second victim, an unidentified woman, was quickly transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital to treat her gunshot wound. According to FOX5 Atlanta, the grim scene also revealed that a young child was present during the shooting and witnessed the violence. The child, however, was not injured. The Cobb County Police Department emphasized that there was no further danger to the public in the aftermath of the shooting.
Although details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting remain scant, Cobb Police confirmed their Major Crimes Unit is at the helm of an ongoing investigation. At this time, a person of interest has been interviewed, but no charges have been filed pending further investigation. The relationship between the two victims is also part of the critical information being scrutinized by detectives.
