
Early Wednesday morning, a home invasion on the northeast side of San Antonio turned violent when a man was shot in the face after allegedly attempting to enter a residence. KENS 5 reports that the incident occurred around 2:12 a.m. in the 2500 block of Indian Forest near Binz Engleman Road.
Responding to a report of a disturbance, the San Antonio Police witnessed a man walking out from the backyard and up to the front door, attempting to gain entry using a keypad code. Police say once inside, the man was confronted but continued upstairs before he was shot by another individual in the home. The shooter then approached the officers and was detained for further questioning.
The victim, a man in his 20s with a child inside the house, was rushed to BAMC in critical condition. FOX San Antonio describes the scene as police arriving to the sound of gunshots, with the suspect allegedly knocking on the front door before heading to the backyard to enter the home. An argument ensued upon entry, leading to the subsequent shooting.
The name of the shooter has not been released at this time, and detectives have taken over the ongoing investigation. No charges have been filed while law enforcement officers work to piece together the events that led to this near-fatal encounter.
