A 20-year-old man was stabbed in an attempted robbery gone violent on a CTA platform in Chicago's Loop area. The incident occurred during the early hours of Monday on the Lake Red Line platform, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. According to police, the young man was accosted shortly after 1:30 a.m. while standing on the platform, located in the 200 block of North State Street.
The altercation unfolded when an assailant attempted to take property from the victim, who then fought back. This commotion left him with lacerations above his right eye and the right side of his chest, the same police statement indicated. Despite the early hour, no eyewitnesses to the stabbing have come forth, leaving the investigators to piece together the scene in which the man answered violence with violence.
The victim was subsequently transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where, despite his wounds, he was described to be in good condition. FOX 32 Chicago mentions that the man received medical attention promptly following the attack.
As of the latest reports, Chicago police have not apprehended a suspect in connection with the stabbing.
