The Plano City Jail has a new face climbing its ranks. Detention Supervisor Marco Salcedo was bumped up the ladder on March 25, marking yet another step in his already decorated 13-year career with the City of Plano. A native of Leon, Mexico, Salcedo relocated to Dallas in 1993 and since then, has laid down roots deep into the Texan soil, as per an announcement shared by the Plano Texas Police Department.
A man of his community, Marco’s drive to constantly better himself and serve those around him leaps out from his professional evaluations. His work ethic and dedication to mentoring the new blood—traits consistently highlighted in those assessments—have earned him several Chief's Unit Awards and a slew of commendations over the years. His history with the Plano City Jail goes back to February 2011, when he started as a Detention Officer, before being promoted to Lead Detention Officer in November 2021, a role that was established to leverage his talents and experience.
Outside the walls of his professional life, Marco is a family man. Together with his wife for 12 years, with whom he will soon celebrate a second wedding anniversary, they raise five children. He's also an alumnus of Brookhaven Community College, holding an associate degree. A lover of travel, Salcedo often hits the road with his family, enjoying the broad expanse of land that is as rich and rugged as Texan history itself.
It's not just about the handcuffs and the bars for Marco. He has a clear aim to inspire and foster the growth of the next generation of Detention Officers. According to the Plano Texas Police Department, his "hardworking, dependable, knowledgeable, and compassionate nature" makes him not just a guard but a guardian of the values that the Detention Services team upholds. With his love of the job and a passion for the family at the forefront, it seems Marco is set perfectly to continue making a strong impact in his community.
