A 61-year-old Massachusetts man has been slapped with kidnapping and assault charges for allegedly imprisoning two girls inside a church bathroom in Hudson. As reported by NBC Boston, authorities accuse Michael Gadomski, of Stow, of following the girls into the restroom and preventing them from leaving the sanctuary Saturday afternoon.
The harrowing ordeal went down around 12:30 p.m. at a church on Marlboro Street, and it wasn't Gadomski's first alleged run-in with the young victims, the police stated, elucidating that earlier similar unwanted activity involving the same victims had taken place, though the church's name was not disclosed to the public. While the girls emerged unscathed, the incident has rung alarm bells across the Hudson community, setting off a wave of concern for the safety of the town's youth.
In a statement obtained by Boston.com, Hudson's top cop lauded the girls for their courage, "I applaud these individuals for reporting this incident and for their bravery during this process,” Police Chief Richard DiPersio said. Officers' swift and professional response to the incident did also not go unnoticed as DiPersio commended his force for maintaining the town's security.
Gadomski was taken into custody without fuss, slapped with two counts of kidnapping a child and charges of assault and disorderly conduct, and while it remains unknown whether he has enlisted legal representation, Gadomski is bound for the dock at Marlborough District Court today. The community, meanwhile, stands rocked by the brazen breach of sanctuary and the grim reminder of the lurking dangers, even within the hallowed walls that are supposed to offer solace and safety.
