Scheduled to start early on Wednesday, March 20, through the witching hour of Halloween, the project's construction timetable promises two open lanes in both directions from M-15 up to Baldwin Road. Yet, for drivers planning their routes, the following ramps will be blocked: Northbound M-15 to I-75, both Dixie Highway connections, and the East Holly Road on-ramp.

Current closures also integrate a squeeze on southbound lanes, reduced to a lone lane for barrier wall work from Baldwin Road to M-15 through March 19. According to MDOT, the Exit 106 ramp to Saginaw Road and the related Mile Marker 106 southbound entrance are under lock until late fall, with Dixie Highway's southbound entrance ramp following suit.

The shuffle of traffic is not just about new asphalt; it's a piece of Governor Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan program, aimed at fortifying infrastructure deemed essential to the state's bustling commerce and typified by heavy traffic. Besides fresh pavement, the extensive plan includes the refurbishment of 11 bridges and a series of drainage and signage improvements. By economic estimations, the undertaking is anticipated to buttress 1,936 jobs, directly and indirectly.
