The popular sandwich spot Mendocino Farms is carving out a new notch in Torrance, taking over a former Spires Restaurant spot in Plaza del Amo. This fresh and organic ingredient-driven chain is spreading its "Cheffy Sandwich" wings to feed the South Bay crowd, according to a recent liquor license filing report by What Now Los Angeles.

On the menu, diners can expect something better than your average deli fare, with standout offerings like "Not So Fried" Chicken and Vegan Banh Mi, not to mention their comfortable classics like the Turkey Avo Salsa Verde. Fans of the clean eating ethos are in for a treat, as the chain has quite the rap for sticking to ingredients "with care from farmers and food artisans who share our elevated standards for quality—working locally with our neighbors when possible," as their website states. A same ethos extends to their policy on artificial additives, with a hearty no to added hormones and artificial sweeteners.

With already more than two dozen haunts dotting Los Angeles and pushing boundaries out to California, Texas, and Washington, Mendocino Farms doesn't seem to be hitting the brakes anytime soon. The company's budding new Encino location is also prepping to swing open its doors on March 26th, with a deal for a free entrée for those who sign up or update their favorite location to Los Angeles-Encino in their My Mendo account.

Back in Torrance, Mendocino Farms' future neighbors in the Plaza del Amo include a variety of commercial staples ranging from Giuliano’s Deli & Bakery to an Amazon Fresh currently under construction, ensuring that the sandwich spot will find itself nestled in a hub of bustling retail activity. It adds a new flavor to the plaza that's sure to cater to the lunch crowd looking for a notch above their usual sandwich shop fare.
