The blaze that ravaged a sizable residence in a Mesa gated community occurred late Sunday night, as reported by AZFamily. The local fire department responded to the emergency call around 10 p.m. near McLellan Road and 40th Street.
The family owning the home was reportedly out to dinner when the fire broke out, leaving their pet dog alone inside. Despite, the dangerous conditions—the Mesa Fire Department successfully rescued the animal. Unfortunately, the house did not fare well and was deemed a total loss by officials. The exact cause of the fire has not been released.
Another incident on Wednesday morning saw Mesa emergency services spring into action again. A fire near Higley and McKellips roads was reported around 10 a.m., initiating a quick response from firefighting teams. This fire began in the garage and quickly spread, leading to extensive damage. ABC15 documented the event, confirming that although the property was a complete loss, the Mesa firefighters used their equipment to save another dog caught in this unfortunate situation.
No human injuries were reported in either of these two incidents. While property losses in such events are often significant, the successful rescues of the pets provide a slight reprieve to the affected families.
