MESA – A quarter-century of community gatherings and youthful cheers, Red Mountain Center is throwing open its doors for an anniversary bash to remember. With 25 years under its belt, the local hub for health, sports and recreation at 7550 E. Adobe St. is inviting one and all to its 25th Anniversary Open House. The public is welcome to join the fun on Saturday, March 16 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to a recent announcement. Admission is on the house.

Ensuring its status as a family affair, the center's event roster is packed to the brim with carnival games, accompanied by kids' activities that promise to keep the little ones busy for hours. When they're not bouncing around in the inflatable houses or scaling the rock climbing wall, attendees can sate their appetites at an array of food trucks parked for the occasion. And with various city departments, including the i.d.e.a. Museum and the Arizona Museum of Natural History, setting up displays, educational opportunities knock amidst the revelry.

An emotional highlight, a new 36-gallon Red Push Pistache tree, vibrant with seasonal color changes, will be planted at 10:30 a.m. in honor of the community's past favorite "Hug-A-Tree," claimed last summer by a fierce monsoon storm. The tree planting gesture continues the Parks and Recreation's mission embodied by the "I Love My Park" campaign, as stated in a news release.

Reflecting on the community cornerstone, District 5 Councilmember Alicia Goforth remarked, "Red Mountain Center's 25th anniversary is quite a milestone." She gushed about the amenities, saying, the fitness center and an indoor rock wall, are great – but let's not forget the passion for the community. "This is a place for people of all ages to gather and connect and engage in health and wellness activities," Goforth told MesaAZ News.

And if pride could be measured, the Parks and Recreation employees would be brimming. Director Andrea Moore spells it out: "Red Mountain Center is a point of pride in our community." Always bustling, the center is frequented with a whole host of activities for any age group, making good on the department's “Your Place to Play” motto, as relayed by the same MesaAZ News announcement.

Those who've yet to experience the Red Mountain Center will find the 65,000-square-foot multi-use facility to be an inclusive spot, offering up everything from group fitness classes and basketball drop-ins to space for social events as varied as wedding receptions and, you guessed it, more rock climbing.
