Drivers in Mesquite, brace yourselves for detours and delays as the city embarks on major street overhauls along two of its busiest arteries. Street repairs have kicked off on Big Town Boulevard and Motley Drive, set to shore up the thoroughfares from current wear and tear.
According to an official release by the City of Mesquite, the stretch of Big Town Boulevard from Samuell Boulevard to the City Limit Line is undergoing concrete pavement reconstruction that includes repairs to the curb and medians. Work began last month, to not only patch up but to vastly improve the asphalt paths we take every day, through milling and overlay processes.
Meanwhile, on Motley Drive from south of Oates Drive to north of I-30, Mesquite officials are collaborating with the Dallas County Road and Bridge program to bring similar enhancements. Construction—which also started in February—is expected to revitalize that section of the road with a complete overhaul, venturing into full-depth pavement reconstruction in key areas.
What this means for local commuters is a necessary, albeit disruptive, phase of urban development designed to eventually smooth out their daily rides.
