Miami's movers and shakers are set to gather at Zoo Miami tomorrow night for the XXXV Women of Impact Awards Ceremony, where local female leaders who've left an indelible mark on their community will be spotlighted. The soiree, helmed by Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee and the Women’s History Coalition of Miami-Dade County, Inc., kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and will recognize a slate of women whose efforts have significantly shaped the cultural and social landscape of Miami-Dade.

This year's honorees include a diverse group of women: Barbara Fonte, Suzy Lord, Rose Martin, Jacques Porter, Stephanie V. Daniels, Lynette Long, Julie Robinson, and Metris Batts-Coley. Significant accolades, such as the Legacy Awards, will be given to Dr. Helen McGuire, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, and Roz Berrin. The Everyday Hero Award will be presented to Aracely Olvera for her tireless work in the community. "I am committed to celebrating the achievements and impact of women in our community," Commissioner McGhee stated in a recent press release. "These awards are a tribute to the strength, resilience, and leadership that women bring to every aspect of our society."

For over three decades, the Women’s History Coalition of Miami-Dade County has sought to preserve female legacies and advocate for an enriched understanding of women's historical contributions. Rose Martin, president of the Coalition, echoed McGhee's sentiments on the eve of the ceremony. “We are thrilled to join forces with Commissioner McGhee to celebrate and honor these exceptional women who have made a lasting impact on our community. Their dedication, passion, and leadership serve as an inspiration to us all,” she said.
