Miami-Dade police are on the hunt for a man who allegedly committed arson at a Florida City car wash, an incident that was captured on the establishment's surveillance cameras. The fiery vandalism occurred at Tunnel of Luv car wash, 33513 South Dixie Highway, around 12:30 a.m. on March 2. According to NBC Miami, the suspect is reported to have urinated inside the facility then proceeded to deliberately set it ablaze.
Detectives are currently attempting to positively identify the perpetrator, described as a male aged between 20 and 40. The risk assumed by setting the structure on fire caused an estimated $60,000 in damages. Local 10 reports that the man is believed to have disembarked from the Marathon Bus before committing the act, which left the car wash with significant fire and smoke damage.
The released footage shows the man in the parking lot before he enters the car wash, which was closed, and proceeds with his destructive actions. The act itself was compounded when the suspect fled the scene immediately after igniting the fire. Authorities are relying on the public's assistance to track down the individual responsible for the arson.
Miami-Dade Police are encouraging anyone with information to come forward and contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. There's even an incentive being offered – up to $5,000 as a reward for details that lead to successfully locate and arrest the arsonist. This is an ongoing investigation and officers are urging local residents and potential witnesses to help ensure justice is swiftly served for the senseless damage inflicted upon the Luv Car Wash.
