A 21-year-old man faces an attempted murder charge after a money dispute led to a shootout in North Miami, authorities said. The altercation broke out on February 26, when Lexter Coriolan and his crew confronted the brother of a man they were looking for, on the second floor of an apartment complex.

"Moments after an altercation ensued over money involving the victim’s brother, Lexter Coriolan, of Miami Gardens, pulled out a gun from his waistband and fired multiple shots toward the victim," reported Local 10 News. The victim was reportedly struck in the buttocks as he attempted to flee. In a move of self-defense, the victim, who was armed, shot back, hitting Coriolan in the chest.

According to authorities, after being wounded, Coriolan temporarily escaped only to come back and fire additional shots at the victim at close range while he laid on the first-floor landing. As reported by Yurelehand, Coriolan then fled in a vehicle, later seeking medical attention which led to his eventual arrest.

Local 10 News stated that Coriolan was positively identified as the perpetrator on February 27, based on the testimony of the victim. "Following the incident, detectives said they spoke with Coriolan at Florida Aventura Hospital on March 1," which is where he invoked his right to remain silent. Currently, Coriolan is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
