It's official – Jenn Tran is making history as "The Bachelorette" franchise's first Asian American lead. The 26-year-old physician assistant from Miami, known for her stint in Joey Graziadei's season of "The Bachelor," is back to find love in the spotlight. The announcement was made during the reality show's finale on Monday night, according to Austin American Statesman.
Tran, who sported a purple dress during her debut as the new Bachelorette, has been lauded for breaking barriers and bringing a diverse representation to the screen. "I feel so so grateful and so honored to be the first Asian bachelorette in this franchise," she said in a statement obtained by Women's Health. After making a dramatic entrance in a go-kart on Graziadei's season, Tran expressed her desire for more Asian visibility on television recalling her childhood, "I've always wanted to see Asian representation on TV. And, I feel like it was really sparse."
Tran's journey on "The Bachelor," where she reached the top six before elimination, had fans hooked. Now they're eager to see her navigate her own love story, which begins filming immediately as per Reality Steve's intel, states Women's Health. Beyond her reality TV fame, Tran has also shared glimpses of her life as a PA student, managing to balance her studies with filming for the show.
Tran's personal life has also grabbed the spotlight, particularly her estranged relationship with her father and her growing bonds with her mother. Speaking of her family dynamics, Jenn said, "She is the woman I want to be when I grow up," according to the Women's Health interview, "She came here from Vietnam, and she left medical school to give my brother and I a better life."
As for her downtime, Tran enjoys hitting the books, paddleboarding, and listening to Shawn Mendes. Coincidentally, she's admitted that Mendes' music often brings her to tears. Fans will have the chance to get to know Tran better as she embarks on a televised quest for love, her life, and passions unfolding weekly for an audience that's ready for a fresh narrative – a narrative where the leading lady looks like her.
