A Michigan woman's crime spree came to an end at a Metro Detroit motel after a statewide search, authorities report. Olivia Elizabeth McKinnon, 25, from Alpena, was arrested after allegedly stealing a truck, firearm and drugs from an Alpena County home where she had been renting a room.

Michigan State Police were alerted to the theft at around 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 24. The homeowner, from whom McKinnon had been renting, reported his 2014 Ram truck and a 9mm handgun missing. Home security footage reviewed by troopers confirmed the theft, as they observed McKinnon driving away in the pickup, The Alpena News reported.

Detectives deployed advanced surveillance techniques in their search, leading them to a motel on Dix Highway in Lincoln Park where they discovered the stolen vehicle parked outside. According to CBS Detroit, upon knocking on the motel room door, McKinnon, responded, leading to her arrest.

When a search warrant was executed for McKinnon's room, detectives found not only the stolen gun, but also a quantity of prescription pills, WWJ Newsradio 950 detailed. McKinnon was subsequently charged with unauthorized driving away of a motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and felony firearm.

She was initially lodged at a local jail before being transferred to the Alpena County Jail. The court set her bond at $35,000 cash surety, and McKinnon is scheduled for her next court appearance on March 12.
