An Alpena Township incident has taken a sharp turn into violence, with a Michigan man receiving more than emotional support during what started as a comforting embrace. While he attempted to console 32-year-old Autumn Marie Burton amidst a helping hand with moving, police say she took a stab in the back quite literally.
The stabbing occurred on February 27, following Burton's discovery of a text message between the man and another woman. According to FOX 2 Detroit, Burton became upset after seeing the correspondence. The police stated that while the man sought to alleviate her distress with a hug, she betrayed his gesture, wounding him physically with a knife.
In the aftermath, both parties fled from the Blanchard Street residence. The injured man eventually coordinated with the Michigan State Police and was found on E Nicholson Hill Road before EMS ushered him to MyMichigan Medical Center for treatment, as reported by WPBN/WGTU. The authorities tracked down Burton at her home on Spruce Road. It emerged during the confrontation that she had disposed of the weapon by tossing it from her vehicle window while driving back, the police conveyed.
Burton was apprehended and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence. At her arraignment in the 88th District Court, her bond was fixed at $2,500, 10%. As 9&10 News detailed, after returning to her residence and initially holding back, Burton eventually complied with officer requests to come outside. Having abandoned the knife, her actions have now landed her behind bars at the Alpena County Jail.
