New Braunfels is gearing up for a bit of a shutdown come the end of March, folks. The city just announced a slew of closures in observance of Founders Day, leaving some of our daily haunts off-limits on Friday, March 29. Planning to deal with city hall or got a date with the municipal court? Nope, not happening. You'll also have to skip your library fix and put off any trash talk with the solid waste department 'cause they're not around either.
According to the City of New Braunfels official announcement, the list of closures isn't short. We've got the New Braunfels Public Library, city parks offices, and even the eco-friendly crowd at the Fischer Park Nature Center taking a breather. Oh, and if you were planning to hit the city's Westside Community Center or get some recycling done, scrap those plans - they're closed up too.
But it ain't all locked doors and long faces. For the fitness buffs, Das Rec will keep the lights on Friday and Saturday, but they're joining the Sunday rest crowd. Checking out a book will have to wait, as both branches of the New Braunfels Public Library are also taking off that Saturday and Sunday. The Westside Community Center will, for those scheduling activities, be closed on Saturday as well.
Now, if you're looking to swing a club, the Landa Park Golf Course is staying the course with no changes to their schedule, for all of you worried about missing your tee time. If you're looking for more info or need details on other facilities, the city folks suggest hitting up the New Braunfels website or giving them a buzz at 830-221-4000. You wouldn't want to show up somewhere only to find the doors locked and lights out.
