It's not your average Saturday showdown. New Braunfels, Texas is prepping for what it's touting as a Texas-sized clash of Rock, Paper, Scissors at the McKenna Center. The Big Battle Rock, Paper, Scissors Competition on March 23 is set to benefit a great cause—Big Brothers Big Sisters of Comal and Guadalupe Counties, as reported by FOX San Antonio.
While local youth are encouraged to freely join the fray from 2 pm to 4 pm, the real action starts at 6 pm, when adults will step into the ring to not just compete, but also to prove they've got what it takes in the world's simplest, yet most intense hand-to-hand combat. And yes, there's a twist: participants are being told to suit up in their best battle armor and select a walk-on song, as Express News points out, all to ensure the competitive spirit stays high and the laughs keep coming.
The stakes? Bragging rights—not to mention awards for Most Enthusiastic Posse, Best Battle Gear, and Best Walk-On Performance. It's not just about the hand gestures, it's about the style and the support systems. And while participants are dropping a $5 entry fee, spectators can get into the event for $25, which covers dinner, drinks, and a vote in each of the three award categories. All proceeds will go directly to supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters' mentorship programs.
Notable figures like New Braunfels Mayor Neal Linnartz and former Mayor Rusty Brockman have also committed to, not only attend, but to battle it out in a special match—providing a little extra entertainment and community bonding. If the thought of political leaders duking it out Rock, Paper, Scissors-style doesn't get locals to open their wallets for a good cause, what will? For those keen to throw their hat—or hand—into the ring, tickets are available on the event's online page as per Express News.
