New Braunfels' very own Val T. Webb took "The Voice" stage by storm and is now officially on Team Chance the Rapper. Her impressive rendition of Deborah Cox's hit "Nobody's Supposed to be Here" earned her a four-chair turn from the judges, a standing ovation, and the title of the last contestant to receive such unanimous approval this season, as reported by FOX San Antonio.

The 43-year-old vocal coach and background singer, who said the audition was for her sons as much as it was for her, had the coaches jockeying to coach her. John Legend was the first to hit the buzzer but Webb's heart was set to quickly go with Chance the Rapper, according to an Express News interview.

The battle rounds are up next for Webb, who now carries the hopes of New Braunfels and her family with her as she advances in the competition. Her journey from local vocal coach to a national spotlight has been a seamless transition, showcasing her years of experience working with both mainstream and gospel artists. She's also sending love back home to the Alamo City, as her stardom on the show continues to rise.

During the auditions, each judge highlighted their connection to church choirs while making their pitch, which definitely played to Webb's strong suit of gospel and soulful singing. Legend pointed out her church background, saying, "You’re so gifted, and it would be such a joy to work with you." Meanwhile, Mooney reminisced about his own gospel roots during his pitch, as Webb brought her son Joshua onto the stage, noted Express News. Webb’s son, though present for support, admitted to Legend he did "not get that gene" when asked if he sings.

As the judges vied for her attention, it was Chance’s genuine background in gospel that clinched Webb's decision. "I run a vacation Bible school in Chicago and I work with the youth choir there, and these dudes heard me say that, I think, so that’s the reason why they’re throwing that at you," Chance said in a pitch that evidently struck a chord with Webb, according to her response seen on Express News. And with Webb firmly on Team Chance, viewers will have to tune into the show, streaming on NBC and Peacock, to see how far her voice will take her.
