A New Hampshire man is facing charges after a two-vehicle crash in Gilsum left two elderly people seriously injured, authorities said. The collision, which occurred on Route 10 Friday evening, required medical helicopters to transport the victims to area hospitals for emergency care.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, Alexander Bazarnicki, 29, was driving a 2023 Ford Transit van northbound when he collided with a southbound 2021 Kia Seltos around 6:20 p.m. The Kia's driver, 81-year-old David Bosma, and his passenger, Kathleen Bosma, were the two injured in the crash. Both were airlifted to separate hospitals. David Bosma is being treated at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center while Kathleen Bosma was sent to Concord Hospital, their conditions are described as serious.

Bazarnicki was arrested following the incident on charges of driving while intoxicated. He was subsequently released on bail, and is expected to appear in Keene District Court on a later date.

The State Police Troop C barracks first responded to the scene and were later joined by the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Unit, who took over the investigation. The Keene Fire Department, Cheshire County Sheriff’s Office, Gilsum Fire Department, and J&J Truck Service & Towing all provided assistance at the scene of the accident.
