The Boston Police Department has taken 27-year-old Daniel Robinson into custody following a series of armed robberies in Brighton and Roxbury. The Newton man was apprehended on March 8 around 4:15 PM by the Youth Violence Strike Force near 1077 Washington Street in Newton. At the time of his arrest, Robinson was sought on a warrant for armed robbery, assault and battery, and assault with a dangerous weapon, as reported by the Boston Police Department's official website.
Additional charges are expected to be pressed after further investigations by detectives assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury), connected to a similar incident that occurred on the day. Authorities point to two previous armed robberies earlier this February which now appear tied to Robinson. In the first, occurring on February 6 around 11:46 AM, the assailant pulled a firearm and demanded cash before jumping over a counter and taking $400 - $500 at 584 Washington Street in Brighton. The individual then fled toward Montfern Avenue, states the Boston Police Department.
A second armed robbery took place on the same day, shortly after at 12:50 PM, at 517 Warren Street in Roxbury where the suspect brandished a firearm to steal about $800. This suspect was also seen fleeing towards Elm Hill Avenue. According to the Boston Police, descriptions from the two February incidents matched, leading to Robinson's subsequent capture.
Robinson is slated for arraignment at Brighton District Court, where he will face the previous charges in addition to new ones stemming from the Roxbury robbery. The Boston Police Department is expected to release further details as their investigation continues and urge citizens with any relevant information to step forward. The community breathes a sigh of relief with this arrest, hoping an end to this alarming spree of robberies that have put local residents on edge.
