Chaos ruled at the airport as passengers bound for Salem from Las Vegas were left in limbo following a lengthy delay attributed to weather, an excuse which has since come under scrutiny. KATU reports that among the frustrated travelers were Michelle and Eric Brown, who after celebrating their son's 21st birthday, found themselves facing a delay far exceeding expectations.
"So we got to the airport at 6:30. I went to the counter because I had checked bags. We had hoped for like a two-hour delay so we didn’t have to get up so early," Eric Brown disclosed in a statement obtained by KATU. The minor inconvenience they braced for morphed into an ordeal lasting more than two days, affecting not only the Browns but several other passengers.
Further compounding the frustration was the impact of the delay on personal commitments. "Our son was supposed to have started a new job yesterday. So he had to call his new boss and say, 'Hey, guess what? I'm not gonna be able to make it,'" Mr. Brown told KATU. With the supposed weather culprit called into question, passengers took to checking their own devices for evidence of the inclement conditions cited by Avelo.
Eric Brown expressed skepticism to KATU, stating, "They kept saying it’s weather related. We kept looking at our phones because we have Ring cameras at our house. There was no snow." The response from travelers underscores a growing lack of trust between consumers and service providers, where transparency is often compromised during inconvenience.
