Philadelphia's Mayor Cherelle L. Parker has a day packed with public appearances this Tuesday, starting with a roundtable discussion to empower entrepreneurs of color. According to the City of Philadelphia's official website, Parker will sit with U.S. Deputy Commerce Secretary Don Graves and Congressman Dwight Evans at The Enterprise Center to explore ways the commerce department can better connect minority business owners with valuable resources and opportunities.
Later in the afternoon, Mayor Parker will participate in the Bangladeshi flag-raising ceremony to commemorate Bangladesh's 53rd Independence Day, a symbol of pride and unity for Bangladeshi-Americans. She will be issuing a special proclamation during the event flanked by City Representative Jazelle Jones, and several state officials; this ceremony is set to take place at the city hall's north apron flag poles.
Wrapping up a busy Tuesday, she is scheduled to speak at the City and State PA Magazine's annual Above and Beyond Gala, where the publication is honoring 50 influential women who've made noteworthy contributions to the state of Pennsylvania. This evening engagement will see Mayor Parker address powerful female leaders gathered at the Fitler Club to celebrate their achievements within the Commonwealth.
