A man wanted for a triple homicide in a Philadelphia suburb was arrested in New Jersey, police reported. Andre Gordon, 26, allegedly killed three of his relatives Saturday morning in Falls Township, Bucks County, as reported by the UPI News.
According to Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn in a statement obtained by CBS News, the suspect, armed with an AR-style rifle and possibly other guns, carried out the shootings at two separate residences. The initial attack occurred on Viewpoint Lane in Levittown before 9 a.m. The assailant reportedly carjacked a vehicle in Trenton before arriving at the home, breaking in, and fatally shooting Karen and Kera Gordon. Three other individuals present managed to escape harm, hiding from the attacker who was searching for them.
The rampage continued approximately 10 minutes later on Edgewood Lane, where the mother of Gordon's two children was also shot and killed. There, the perpetrator assaulted another person with the rifle, who has survived their injuries. No further injuries were reported at the second location, Schorn conveyed in the briefing detailed by CBS News Philadelphia.
Falls Township Police Chief Nelson Whitney told reporters in an interview procured by WPTV that Gordon had minor prior legal encounters, "but it was nothing that would indicate that anything like this would happen." The community was initially placed on high alert and advised to shelter in place as law enforcement conducted their manhunt for the suspect.
The motive behind the shootings remains under investigation as the local community grapples with the aftermath of the violent events that shattered the calm of an ordinary suburban weekend. Gordon is now facing charges related to the triple homicide and is awaiting trial.
