Heads up, Philly drivers: Big delays are on the horizon on I-95 as PennDOT rolls out night-time paving next Tuesday. If you’re planning to hit the northbound lanes near the Cottman Avenue Interchange, expect closures and snail-paced traffic.
Travel restrictions kick in on March 26 at a pretty inconvenient 7:00 PM, with one lane down for the count. It gets worse - by 11:00 p.m., it's two lanes closed until 5:00 a.m. the next day, between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Academy Road interchanges. This is all about laying down the concrete on the inside of the new bridge.
PennDOT completed the bridge’s outer sections last November, and traffic's been shuffling onto them so the center can get done by mid-2024. They're telling drivers to pad their schedules, because hold-ups are a given. Of course, everything hinges on whether Mother Nature plays nice.
