Phoenix and Valley Metro Team Up To Offer Free Transit to NCAA Final Four FansSource: City of Phoenix

Phoenix hoops fans are in for a treat as the city, in tandem with Valley Metro, sets up a slam dunk in public travel by offering free rides to NCAA Final Four attendees from April 5-8. The city of Phoenix is banking on a repeat performance of last year's efficient transport services during similar big-ticket events like Super Bowl LVII. According to Phoenix.gov, Mayor Kate Gallego expressed delight at the prospect of giving fans the "full Phoenix experience," while attendees can easily navigate to the downtown festivities.

As the NCAA Men’s Final Four bounces into Phoenix, hopeful spectators will only need to jump through a few basic hoops to avail themselves of the free transit by using the Valley Metro app - they have to download the app, create an account, and snag their complimentary pass via the NCAA’s 'Know Before You Go' section, and all set, they're to go back to the app and get their pass, which is pretty straightforward for up to four buddies hopping aboard together. Phoenix Councilwoman Laura Pastor mentioned, in a pump-up speech, the city provided over 250,000 safe rides during last year's Super Bowl and is gearing up for an encore.

Riders looking to take advantage of this play can start at any of the 13 free park-and-rides spread across Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa. The Valley Metro app is a winning strategy for trip planning, real-time train tracking and staying updated with rider alerts. The final buzzer on this freebie offer will sound as the games wrap up on April 8, so fans better act fast, the city’s news release advised.

Completing this assist, Jay Parry, CEO of the local organizing committee, said, "We are excited to partner with Valley Metro and the city of Phoenix to offer free rides for our basketball fans traveling to the 2024 Men’s Final Four events in Phoenix," acknowledging this collaboration as a major play in city logistics. With the Final Four poised to take place at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona – the city is betting on its upper hand, having hosted a flurry of big sports gatherings and cultural shindigs recently.
