PONTIAC, Mich. — A 55-year-old Pontiac man, Malcom Robert Boykin, has been charged with second-degree murder following a deadly altercation at the Night Riders Motorcycle Club, officials said. In addition to the murder charge, Boykin faces accusations of assault with intent to murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and multiple counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, The Detroit News reported.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office disclosed that the incident, which occurred last Tuesday, escalated from an argument into violence, ultimately leading to the death of 42-year-old Charlie Isaac Odneal of Pontiac. Deputies were dispatched to the club on Raeburn Street shortly after 9 p.m. and found that Odneal had already been transported to the hospital, where he later died early Wednesday. Authorities managed to quickly to identify Boykin as the shooter, and he was taken into custody without incident at a nearby motel the following day, according to ClickOnDetroit.
During his arraignment, Boykin was ordered held without bond by 52-1 District Court Magistrate Michael Bosnic, WWJ Newsradio 950 reported. This move places Boykin behind bars until at least the next court event. The upcoming probable cause conference for Boykin is set for March 19 in 50th District Court, offering a venue to examine the evidence and arguments in this case.
