The Big Apple might be notorious for its unpredictable weather, but it seems that Portland, Oregon is gearing up to quickly give New York a run for its money. According to the National Weather Service in Portland Oregon, after a frosty morning with widespread frost before 9 a.m. and the mercury hovering around the 30°F mark, Portlanders will be basking under sunny skies with a high near 49°F today.

Residents looking to revel in the sunny respite will, however, need to bundle up tonight as clouds are set to roll back in, bringing a low around 33°F. Light winds from the south-southeast won't do much to blow away the cold. Come Friday, the weather plans to stay partly sunny with a high near 58°F, tempting one to nearly forget the chill in the air.

The weekend, as per the National Weather Service, won't be quite so forgiving. A 40 percent chance of rain is predicted post-10 p.m. on Friday night, clouding up with a low around 42°F. And that's just the prelude to Saturday’s full-blown rain, gusty winds, and a high near 50°F. Saturday night will see the return of the rain, with an 80 percent chance of precipitation.

Sunday is slated to dish out more of the same, with rain forecasted before 4 p.m., then moving to showers and possibly a thunderstorm post-4 p.m., maintaining a brisk high near 50°F. The start of the work week doesn't look to brighten up either—expect rain through Monday and Tuesday, with highs hovering a hair above the 50°F mark.

Portland’s inhabitants can anticipate the continuation of these soggy conditions moving into midweek, with a chance of rain persisting on Wednesday, accompanied by a high near 52°F. Whether you're out on a stroll or just window-gazing, it seems the ever-present companion for Portlanders over the next week will be their trusty umbrellas.
