A tragedy unfolded on Portland's streets earlier this month, culminating in the death of a local bicyclist following a traffic collision. Forty-year-old Jonathan V. Henderson succumbed to his injuries a week after a crash that took place near Southwest Alder Street and Southwest Third Avenue on March 12.
Henderson was admitted to the local hospital immediately after the incident, where he fought for his life for six days. However, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he passed away on Monday, March 18, the Portland Police Bureau announced. According to the initial investigation, Henderson entered the intersection at a red light and was struck by an oncoming SUV, which had the right of way with a green light.
The SUV driver has been reported to have cooperated fully with law enforcement officials following the accident. No arrests have been made nor citations issued in connection to the tragic event. The Portland Police Bureau has not suggested any charges will be forthcoming, with the investigation still underway.
Further information regarding this incident can be found on the official Portland Police Bureau website at Portland Police News.
