A fiery inferno engulfed a Portland auto repair shop early yesterday morning, leading to a hectic scene as fire crews rushed to battle the two-alarm blaze. According to KPTV, the fire broke out at an auto shop located on the 5800 block of SE 82nd Avenue. Downed power lines and explosions added to the chaos as Portland Fire & Rescue arrived on site.
Quickly to assess the situation, the fire department found heavy fire streaming from the single-story building. The first responders began to aggressively fight the fire from outside due to the dangerous conditions. The building was quickly deemed a total loss by PF&R. "Crews began fighting the fire outside, then inside the building," stated a representative from Portland Fire & Rescue, as detailed by KGW News.
While the name of the ill-fated establishment was Bob's Auto Sales, Inc., fortunately, there were no victims or reported injuries from the event. The news of the fire was first reported after fire crews were dispatched at around 8:15 a.m. to address the out-of-control fire.
As the embers cool, the investigation into the cause of the fire intensifies. "PF&R says their investigator is now on the scene to figure out the cause and origin of the fire," according to a report from KOIN. Despite the property loss, the quick response and dedication of Portland Fire & Rescue crews prevented any loss of human life in what could have otherwise turned to be a deadly disaster.
