A woman from Richmond was nabbed by Colma cops Friday night after swiping goods from a local store, the police department reported. The sticky-fingered shopper tried to make a clean getaway in a silver Honda but didn't get far. At around 9:25 pm, officers hurried over to a shop in the 700 block of Serramonte Boulevard, responding to a call about a theft that had just taken place.
The quick-thinking store staff snapped a picture of the license plate before the thief could vanish into the night, a detail they promptly passed on to law enforcement. It didn't take long for officers to corner the suspect; they found the silver ride parked at a second business on the 1200 block of El Camino Real. A woman sitting in the passenger seat seemed to fit perfectly the description given by the eyewitnesses and was soon detained by the police.
According to the Colma Police Department's Facebook page, the female was positively identified by an employee of the victimized business as the same individual responsible for the theft. Her caper was cut short when she was arrested and found to be in possession of roughly $84.99 in stolen goods.
The 37-year-old Richmond woman was handed a citation and instructed to promise to appear in court.
