After spending a stretch of two and a half years at a local shelter, Rocky, a Rottweiler mix with a fondness for kids, other dogs, and even kittens, has finally found a forever home. The heartwarming tale of his adoption following a feature in the "Forgotten Friends" series was shared by KENS 5, who initially covered Rocky's story last Thursday.
Rocky's journey began when he was rescued from the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services, and since his arrival at the Animal Defense League's Nacogdoches location, he's been looking for his new family. Despite his loving nature and enthusiasm for affection, Rocky had been repeatedly overlooked by potential adopters. Jamie Gibson at the ADL highlighted his playful spirit and resilience, noting he does not let his slight hip dysplasia dampen his zest for life. "He doesn’t let bad hips get him down, he just wants a family of his own who is good with short bursts of activity, and casual walks but mostly just good with just lots of belly rubs and cuddles," Jamie Gibson told KENS 5.
For those still considering adoption, the ADL continues its mission to rescue and care for creatures in need. Their "Diamond in the Ruff" program makes long-term residents like Rocky, free for adoption while encouraging donations to support their efforts.
