Round Rock's performing arts scene is about to get a new headliner as the City Council green-lit a development plan for a cutting-edge venue. The come-up area of Rock Creek Plaza Shopping Center along IH-35, a hive of fresh eateries and retail spots, will soon be singing a different tune with a space managed by the acclaimed Penfold Theatre Company, as reported by the City of Round Rock's official website.

With a spellbinding grant of $326,330, Penfold Theatre Company's new digs will span 6,400 square feet, seating an audience of 100-150. This stash of cash coughed up from hotel occupancy taxes, is set to cover the venue's rent for the first year and a half. The City's crystal-clear plan is to ramp up the locale's live entertainment and sustain Round Rock's cultural fabric. Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan couldn't hold back his applause. "These agreements are in line with the City’s objective to nurture creative enterprises and expand entertainment choices for our residents—a mission that Penfold has consistently supported through the years," he gushed, according to the City's statement.
