A 55-year-old Roxbury woman was arrested yesterday morning after a man was shot and wounded in what police describe as a violent confrontation at a Marcella Street residence. Leah Daniels is facing multiple charges, including assault to murder, in connection with the shooting.
According to a statement from the Boston Police Department, officers descended on the area around 10:29 a.m. after receiving a call about a shooting. Upon arrival at 12 Marcella Street, they discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. The officers provided medical aid to the injured man before he was transported to a local hospital, sustaining injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
Authorities stated that they were tipped off to the suspect's location, inside a second-floor apartment. Following protocol, a protective sweep led them to Daniels, who was found holed up in a bedroom. A search warrant was being sought to further investigate the premises.
In addition to assault to murder, Daniels has been charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, assault and battery with a firearm, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building. After her arrest, she was slated for arraignment at the Roxbury District Court, as police reported.
