
Tragedy struck in San Antonio as a 17-year-old girl was found dead under a bridge, sparking a desperate search for answers. Kaitlyn Elizabeth Hernandez, a recent graduate of Roosevelt High School, was found dead in a creek off Dell Oak Road, as FOX San Antonio reported. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a homicide, caused by strangulation and blunt head trauma.
The community is on edge as San Antonio Police identified a person of interest linked to the grisly discovery made around 2:30 a.m. near Walzem Road and Eisenhauer Road. According to KSAT, the young woman had gone for a walk with a male friend and never returned. Police were able to decidedly find her phone and jacket after scouring the area, followed by the grim discovery of her body.
Hernandez, who aspired to become a veterinarian, was mourned by her family. "She was innocent she didn't deserve what happened to her," her aunt, Crystal Rodriguez, told FOX San Antonio. The investigation continues to unfold as police detained the male friend for questioning and released an image of another person of interest early Wednesday morning. The San Antonio Police Department has been to actively seek any leads that could help bring closure to this case. The SAPD Homicide unit is asking the public to provide any relevant information regarding the suspect whose image has been circulating on social media platforms like the department's Facebook page.
