Late Tuesday night, a residential corner of San Antonio's southeast side was jolted by the sound of metal against brick as a man in an SUV blew through a stop sign, slamming into a pickup truck, which was subsequently hurled into the wall of a home. According to KENS 5, San Antonio Police arrived on the scene in the 300 block of Cravens Avenue near Goliad Road around 11:30 p.m. to assess the chaos sown by this vehicular bumble.
Investigators at the scene determined that neither driver was under the influence of intoxicants during the time of the crash. Eyewitnesses and residents could only watch in some mixture of disbelief and relief as, against all odds, both vehicles crawled away from the wreckage, battered but operable. The home, which stood as an unsuspecting participant in a nighttime drama it never auditioned for, suffered only superficial damage. The News 4 San Antonio report echoed the fortunate outcome, no individuals were injured in the ordeal.
The incident has raised questions within the community about the safety of local streets and the need for additional traffic enforcement measures.
The investigation is ongoing.
