San Antonio police are on the hunt for two suspects following a violent road rage episode that escalated to gunfire on a busy highway. A 60-year-old man narrowly escaped with his life when he was grazed by a bullet on the back of his head, police said.
According to KENS 5, the incident unfurled yesterday afternoon when the victim's SUV was reportedly caught up with a white Mercedes as he traveled westbound on Hwy 90 near General McMullen. Investigators say the suspects began to aggressively honk and then opened fire, striking the SUV multiple times.
During the horrifying confrontation, which saw several rounds hit the victim's vehicle, one of the bullets managed to break through the window and graze the driver's head. In a statement obtained by KSAT, police detailed that the man escaped the onslaught by veering off the highway and into a residential area where he called for help.
Emergency services that attended to the scene released the man after treating his head wound. The suspects, described as two Hispanic males possibly between the ages of 13 and 18, were seen armed with a pistol and a rifle. Police say that once apprehended, the pair could face charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The police department has not yet released any additional details on the suspects.
