Chaos erupted on San Antonio's Northwest Side as two SAPD officers shot a 19-year-old man, Christopher Dahl, after a domestic disturbance escalated on Friday evening.

According to KSAT, police were summoned around 7 p.m. to the 9100 block of Dartbrook Drive, after a relative reported Dahl was being violent and threatening to kill her, with officers encountering Dahl pointing a shotgun at them as they navigated a stairway, an altercation ensued whereupon both officers discharged their firearms and critically wounded the young man.

Dahl, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition, now faces two charges each of aggravated assault against a public servant and terroristic threats against a family or household, the San Antonio Express-News reported.

"The man aimed the shotgun at the officers and both officers fired their weapons, striking him," San Antonio Police Chief William McManus told Express-News, elaborating on the moments that led to the shooting which happened just as Dahl descended the staircase, the confrontation occurred swiftly and left no officers or bystanders harmed in the fray.

The investigation remains in its incipient stages, with both officers, one a four-year veteran and the other with only two months on the force, currently on administrative duty pending a review of the incident.
