A teen girl, once reported missing, was found dead early Wednesday in a San Antonio ditch, igniting a homicide investigation by local police. Her body was discovered near the 7600 block of Dell Oak Drive, close to Krueger Middle School and not a stone's throw from her home, around 12:30 a.m, as first reported by KENS 5. Despite being found naked, police reported no apparent trauma on her body.
Subsequent to the girl’s family reporting her missing just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night, the police search yielded a chilling discovery under a bridge: a blue jacket and then the girl, who had not been identified publicly at the time of this report. According to a statement obtained by KENS 5, her cell phone was also found in an adjacent ditch, a grim breadcrumb that led to the more harrowing find.
The man, said to be a neighbor, with whom she was last seen left a wave of questions in the wake of the teen's death. "She reportedly left home with a man from the neighborhood and never returned,” KENS 5 reported. The San Antonio Police Department have since detained the neighbor for questioning, looking to unravel the events preceding the tragedy.
Adding a layer of mystery to the incident, SAPD has yet to clarify the cause of the victim's death. As per the report from KSAT 12, officers on the scene did not elaborate on how the girl was killed. The neighbor previously seen walking with her, however, returned without her later that evening.
The investigation is active and ongoing, with further details expected to emerge as SAPD deepens its probe into the circumstances surrounding the young girl's untimely death. The community, flanked by Walzem Road and Eisenhauer Road, and encircled by Loop 410, is shaken by the event, underscoring the gravity of such an abrupt loss in their midst. For the latest information, local outlets KENS 5 and KSAT 12 are standing by to share updates as they come.
