A San Francisco man has been apprehended for a series of violent charges, including kidnapping and assault, following a dramatic altercation in Colma that unfolded in the clear view of bystanders. Ismail Arkci, 35, was arrested after Colma Police responded to reports of a male attacking a female in the parking lot of a business on Junipero Serra Boulevard.
On Monday, February 26th, around midday, Colma officers hurried to the scene after a call came in about a distressing situation involving Arkci and the unnamed female victim. According to the Colma Police Department, the pair had been embroiled in a heated verbal exchange inside a parked car, escalating as Arkci forcibly retained the woman by grabbing her hair. Witnesses claimed to see Arkci enact a "bear hug" on the victim in an attempt to return her to the vehicle forcibly.
The intervention of local business employees, who witnessed the scuffle and promptly notified authorities, brought the police to the site, where they separated the suspected assailant from the female. Despite the physical nature of the encounter, the victim sustained no visible injuries and refused medical assistance offered by the Colma Fire Department and American Medical Response.
Arkci's actions, described in vivid detail by witnesses, led to his arrest on serious charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, and corporal injury to a spouse/cohabitant. He was taken into custody and has since been booked into the San Mateo County Jail. The female victim's identity has been withheld, but with her safety ensured after the event, the focus now shifts to the legal proceedings that Arkci will face for his alleged transgressions.
