
In a quiet San José neighborhood, the sound of gunfire shattered the evening as a vigil turned deadly. San José Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in a parking lot on the 3000 block of Story Road on February 18, around 8:53 PM, where they discovered a male victim dead and two females injured, as reported by the San José Police Department.
The male victim, whose identity remains withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, one of the female victims was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but later stabilized. Another female arrived at a local hospital on her own with non-fatal gunshot wounds. This incident marks the city's 7th homicide of the year, invoking a palpable air of unrest amongst the residents.
Detective work led to the arrest of 40-year-old San José resident Juan Carlos Perez on March 1st. Perez was nabbed by the Covert Response Unit in San José and subsequently booked for homicide at the Santa Clara County Main Jail. The motives propelling this somber act remain enigmatic, with details still unraveling by authorities.
