In a case that played out like a scene from a crime thriller, Seattle police nabbed three teenagers after a high-speed chase through the city ended in their arrest for attempted carjacking and related crimes.
The teen suspects, careening through the streets in a stolen gray SUV, were involved in a string of alarming incidents across Seattle that began near Alki Beach and concluded with a dramatic foot chase, two 14-year-olds and a 16-year-old were involved in the series of attempted carjackings one victim luckily escaped by locking their vehicle and taking refuge in a nearby business; another, a 37-year-old woman was accosted at gunpoint while sitting in her car refused the demands and drove off to safety, as per Seattle Police Department.
The drama escalated when a 52-year-old woman and a male reported being robbed and nearly hijacked the suspects, in a desperate move, dared to steal two cell phones and keys before fleeing in the reported gray Hyundai.
Seattle police officers engaged in hot pursuit across the West Seattle Bridge and down to southbound Interstate Highway 5, their attempt to slow the suspects with spike strips only partially succeeded the tire-deflated SUV eventually ground to a halt at South Corgiat Drive and Ursula Place South, the trio bolted from the car leading to a foot pursuit, but law enforcement was quick on their heels, with the involvement of King County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, all suspects were shortly apprehended.
Following the arrest, the Seattle Fire Department provided medical evaluation to the juveniles, who were confirmed as the suspects of the robbery and attempted carjackings throughout the night. Further investigations led to the discovery that the Hyundai they used was indeed stolen, compounding their charges to include possession of a stolen vehicle and attempting to elude police.
