The event is put on by Hope Hits Harder Cancer Foundation, founded by Tommy "T-Bone" Bounds in honor of his late wife, Jana, who fought cancer for 24 years before passing. According to FOX San Antonio, Bounds said, "What better way than to give? Because Jana was a giver. What a way to celebrate my wife's life than having Jana Banana Day at Sea World." This annual celebration at the aquatic amusement park included rides, animal encounters and a picnic, intended to sprinkle a bit of cheer onto the harrowing journeys of these children.
