Shake Shack Drives Excitement with First Illinois Drive-Through in Bloomingdale, Offers Limited-Time Korean Chicken SandwichSource: Shake Shack

Burger lovers in Bloomingdale are in for a tasty drive-through experience with Shake Shack's latest expansion into the Chicago suburb, as the admired burger chain is opening its first drive-through in the state this Friday, NBC Chicago reported.

Adding to the usual fanfare that comes with mouth-watering burgers and shakes, the new location at Army Trail Road and Springfield Drive is driving excitement among foodies on social media, who are already planning their trips and expecting a bustling opening day, not just for the fast food but also due to the new Korean-inspired fried chicken sandwich and the buzz that comes whenever there's a social media post or anything that we do as a village according to Sean Gascoigne, Bloomingdale's community and economic development director in a statement obtained by Daily Herald.

Beyond just drive-through convenience, the Bloomingdale Shake Shack flaunts a two-lane ordering system, digital menu boards, and separate pick-up windows, forecasted to amplify patron's accessibility to its lineup of Angus beef burgers, crinkle-cut fries, and frozen custard shakes, as NBC Chicago highlighted. On top of that, the establishment is rolling out a special "Korean-style" fried chicken sandwich boasting Gochujang-glazed chicken, sesame seeds, and Choi’s Kimchi slaw, only available until May 20th.

The partnership with the Shack has also proved fruitful for other businesses in the area; the old Second National Bank was torn down to create room for the 3,800-square-foot restaurant and a new bank location with a smaller footprint is set to open one and a half months after the burger joint, this transformation of the corner property is set to attract more business and is a direct reflection of the community and the positive business climate Sean Gascoigne told Daily Herald.

Shake Shack, which has burgeoned from a simple hot dog cart in New York City's Madison Square Park to more than 320 locations in the U.S and over 175 internationally, is showing no sign of slowing down its infiltration into suburban markets, with Chief Development Officer Andrew McCaughan expressing enthusiasm for bringing the first drive-through to Illinois. Commensurate with the spirit of their grand opening, the fast-food joint will donate $1 for every sandwich sold to the charity Kids Against Hunger, with hours established from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, per details shared by Daily Herald.
