Seattle's weather forecast is looking damp and dreary for the next few days, with showers on the horizon nearly every day, the National Weather Service in Seattle warns. According to the official forecast, the city is expected to have rain before 3 p.m. today, followed by mostly cloudy skies and a high of about 53 degrees, the south wind blowing gently at 6 to 8 mph, residents should expect a 70% chance of this wetness, with less than a tenth of an inch of new rainfall predicted.

The gloom doesn't lift as we head into tonight, with rain likely mainly after 4 a.m., and an increment of clouds bringing the low temperature to around 43 degrees, with the south southwest wind around 7 mph early in the evening before turning southeast—the chance of precipitation sitting at 60%, while new precipitation amounts are again expected to be less than a tenth of an inch.

Wednesday looks no better for those yearning for a glimpse of the sun,  NWS Seattle says "Rain before noon, then showers after noon. High near 52. East southeast wind 8 to 11 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible."

Even Wednesday night will not offer a reprieve, as showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected before 11 p.m., followed by more showers likely through the night, with a low around 42 degrees and the south wind steadfast at 8 to 11 mph, and even though the chance of precipitation is high at 90%, the forecast suggests new precipitation might vary, with most areas seeing less than a tenth of an inch but possibly more in areas hit by thunderstorms.

By Thursday, hope for a dry spell is still clouded by a 90 percent chance of showers, with a high again near 52 degrees, and a south-southeast wind ranging from 8 to 14 mph; the amount of new rainfall should be less, the service predicting less than a tenth of an inch.

The outlook shows a brief dip in chances for rainfall Thursday night, with a 50 percent possibility of showers before clearing; Friday then could bring a respite with a 20 percent chance of showers after 11 a.m. but otherwise mostly sunny skies and a high near 57 degrees, according to NWS Seattle. Clear conditions could finally shine through come the weekend, with sunny forecasts and highs steadily climbing into the 60s by Monday.
