The search is on for Daniel Leon Martin, a 65-year-old St. Clair Shores man who vanished after leaving a Detroit hospital alone over two weeks ago. Local authorities said that Martin, who has medical issues and is considered vulnerable, has been missing since he left his home for a walk on the afternoon of Feb. 23 and didn't return, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit.
St. Clair Shores police highlighted that Martin was last seen exiting the Ascension St. John Hospital at 22101 Moross Rd. on the morning of Feb. 25. He was reported missing on Feb. 27 after it was noted that he never came back home following his hospital visit. According to Macomb Daily, Martin embarked on a walk at approximately 2 p.m. that same day, and no one has heard from him since.
Details provided by the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) describe Martin as a white male standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 260 pounds. In their report on Martin's disappearance, NamUs disclosed that "Contact with Daniel was last at 1314 hours on 2/24/24 and he was headed to the Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit." They further noted that Martin was no longer listed as a patient at that hospital as of Feb. 28.
The St. Clair Shores Police Department is reaching out to the public for assistance in locating Martin. He is easily identifiable by a "comma" tattoo on his left hand and was last seen wearing glasses, blue jeans, a light brown Carhartt jacket, and a navy blue sweater with a half zipper. Martin left home without his cell phone, creating an additional challenge in tracking his whereabouts.
