A 34-year-old woman from Sterling Heights was busted for allegedly swiping pills from the Troy pharmacy where she'd been recently employed, as per Troy police officials. The theft that took place at Health Hero Pharmacy, located at 4600 Investment Drive, was noticed after an inventory check revealed a shortfall of 100 generic Percocet tablets on the morning of March 7, the department stated.
According to The Detroit News, authorities were summoned to the scene and the store's surveillance footage was scrutinized, showing the new hire illicitly accessing a drawer and secreting away a small white bottle in her pocket, the police declared. The employee, confronted by the officers opened up and confessed to taking the medications home and consuming a portion of them.
Her admission led to an immediate arrest, and she was taken to the holding facility of the department, where she awaited the formal charging procedure. In a statement obtained by Patch, the Troy Police narrated how the woman admitted that she carried the pilfered pills home and partook in them.
Charges the Sterling Heights woman may be facing include possession of narcotics and embezzlement, The Oakland Press reported. Her arraignment has not yet been scheduled, as the police provided.
