Seattle residents can expect to see the sun breaking through the clouds later today after a chilly, overcast start to the morning. The National Weather Service in Seattle forecasts the day to gradually become sunny with a peak temperature near 44 degrees, following a damp and bone-chilling morning where temperatures hovered just above freezing at 35 degrees.
Tonight, the mercury will dip close to freezing once again, as partly cloudy skies take over and temperatures drop to around 32. East winds will maintain a gentle pace at 3 to 5 mph, said the NWS Seattle. The relative calm of the weather is a brief respite, as the city anticipates a higher chance of rain towards the weekend.
The mild weather continues into Wednesday with mostly sunny conditions and highs approaching 43 degrees. A shift in wind, coming from the west southwest, is expected to roll in at around 5 mph during the afternoon.
As the week progresses, Thursday will remain mostly sunny with an anticipated high of 46 degrees. However, clouds are on the march come Thursday night, alongside a slight 10 percent chance of rain after 4 am. "Friday will introduce a 30 percent chance of rain, with rain likely over the weekend," a forecast update stated. The wet weather is set to establish over Seattle, suggesting umbrellas will become a common accessory for residents.
The upcoming forecast doesn't offer much in the way of relief for those weary of wet shoes and damp commutes. A consistent pattern of rain is in the forecast for Seattle starting Friday and extending into the following week, with high temperatures hovering just below the 50s and nighttime lows plateauing around 40 degrees. It seems the city is bracing for a soggy stretch, but Seattleites are no strangers to their fair share of precipitation.
