Early Wednesday morning, a suspected drunk driving incident led to a rollover crash in San Antonio, leaving four people hospitalized with at least two sustaining serious injuries, according to KSAT. The San Antonio Police Department [SAPD] responded to the mayhem at the intersection of Rigsby Avenue and South W.W. White Road, a stone's throw from Loop 410, around 12:30 a.m.
The collision, involving two pickup trucks, occured when a man traveling westbound on Rigsby Avenue impacted another truck carrying three individuals heading northbound. The force of the crash caused the second truck to roll over. Witnesses at the scene helped the occupants out of the rolled vehicle, while firefighters extracted the pinned driver from the first truck. Further investigation by SAPD will include the assessment of the driver on Rigsby for driving while intoxicated (DWI), as per KENS5.
Emergency response from the SAPD, San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS ensured that all involved received prompt medical attention. The victims were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital to tend to their injuries. The condition of the patients has not been disclosed beyond the initial report of serious injuries for at least two individuals.
This incident casts a stark light on the all-too-familiar dangers of intoxicated driving. As the SAPD continues their investigation, the community awaits further details on the circumstances leading to a accident. The names of those involved have not been released as of now, and there's no word yet on potential charges the driver may face.
