A fatal shooting incident in an apartment on Bird Road in SW Miami-Dade has left two women and one man dead in what appears to be a murder-suicide that occurred Saturday night, local law enforcement officials say.
When Miami-Dade police officers arrived at the Windsor Ludlam Trail Apartments located at 7004 SW 40th St., after an 8:53 p.m. call about shots being fired, they discovered one woman with a gunshot wound outside an apartment unit, NBC Miami reported; inside the apartment, another woman and a man who had suffered a gunshot wound, which authorities suggested was self-inflicted, were found dead.
The identities of the individuals were not immediately disclosed but detectives believe that all three resided in the same apartment within the building, where rents for a two-bedroom unit can reach $4,100 a month the Miami Herald noted. All three individuals were declared dead at the scene by authorities.
"You know, nervous…it’s — I’m — I’m — it’s — I’m still trying to gather my thoughts together because it’s — it’s not easy to process," a local resident, JK Jurado, expressed his shock in an interview with NBC6's Olivia Jaquith after the unsettling event. The Miami-Dade Police Department's Special Response Team was called to the scene after the initial discovery, clearing the building before making entry into the apartment where the further casualties were found, police officials said.
An ongoing investigation into the incident is being conducted, and authorities are urging anyone with useful information to get in touch with CrimeStoppers at (305)471-TIPS (8477) or (866) 471-8477.
